Among the components of wind turbine, hub-cover plays an important role.Structurally, hub-cover is a protection coat to protect the hub and the interrelatedcomponents from outside-destroying. Functionally, hub-cover is a shell to ensure theturbine’s proper functioning and high efficiency, which has significant influence onturbine stability, wind utilization, and aerodynamic performance of the blade. The mainbody of hub-cover consists of the following sections: front fender, main frame and door, which are connected by angles in the overlaps. There are three blade holes with reverson the upper port symmetrically distributed by120°on the main body. According to thehub-cover norm, the materials are anisotropy composite, which can be analyzed as awhole. The loads sustained by the hub-cover are complex, which may be influenced bywind, ice, snow and activity load and all of them are uncertain. There may be only oneof these or combinations of several loads exerted on the hub-cover, which will makesome damages to the strength and stableness, so the structural analysis of compositewind turbine hub-cover has an important engineering application value.According to the structure and properties of the hub-cover, the main contents andstructure are as follows:Chapter1:To analyze the application status and prospects of composite materialsused in wind turbines and to propose the main contents and significance of the studyunder the background of the wind turbine technology in both domestic and internationalresearch and development.Chapter2:To introduce the correlated properties of composite materials, tosystematically study the composite mechanics theories and to establish the theoreticalfoundation for the analysis of wind turbines.Chapter3: To study the load conditions of the hub-cover in the third wind fieldwith a mega-watt wind turbine, to propose the computational methods of wind load, static load, activity load, ice load and snow load, and to provide the load data for thesubsequent load condition design and strength analysis.Chapter4:To study the practice of composite ply in software and to analyze thestatic strength of composite hub-cover by finite element analysis method taking thecomplexity of structure and loads into consideration. Chapter5: Considering the strength difference in three main directions ofanisotropy composite, to study the failure modalities of composite materials, tosummarize the strength theory of anisotropy composite, and take a failure analysis forhub-cover by Tsai-Wu Failure Criterion.Chapter6:To study the theories and methods of stability analysis, build the finiteelement model of hub-cover’s internal support structure, submit the calculation in Ansys, extract the related data of axial force and bending moment of supporting frame, andanalyze the stableness of both surface and internal support structure of the hub-cover.Chapter7:Conclusion and Outlook...
