Research On Landscape Planning And Design Of Modern Cemetery

Cemetery is a place for departed saint to bury the remains and cremains, and ainevitable final destination of every individual life. Explained by modern cemeterymeaning, cemetery is a homeland of departed saint rest their souls and an objectivecarrier of people express their mourning for the dead and enlighten social customs,which also provide a greenland landscape for people to recreate and commemorate thedead. Cemetery landscape planning is a branch of landscape design science and a part ofcity cultural landscape construction. With the growth of the population and rapiddevelopment of urbanization, funeral question and urban environment are linked tightly,and human carnal remains management had become the environmental issue that notsallow to ignore, in the meantime, our traditional tomb methods don’t meet therequirement of civilizing course of modern city. It is an meaningful and emergentproblem in the progress of city evolution, how to harmoniously unifying cemeteryconstruction with city landscape construction and shaping the good image of the city.On the basis of discussion with the function characteristic, landscape composition andplanning principle of modern cemetery park, this paper dealt with designing idea andconcrete methods to plan modern cemetery park. Meanwhile, an empirical analysis ondevelopment and construction of modern cemetery park was completed in this studywith the example of landscape planning and design of cemetery park in Xi’an city. Inaddition, cemetery landscape with garden and park style is the inexorable trend ofLandscape environmental construction for modern cemetery.
