Combination Patterns Of Old And New In Old Building Renovation And Expansion

In this paper,fist I make the universality of the relationship between old and new buildings in old building renovation and expansion through a project. Defining the concept of old and new buildings,I propose the two extreme attitudes to old buildings and I think the re-use of old buildings is a trend in the future. This paper presents the development of theory and practice in domestic and foreign in the field of old building renovation and expansion,and analyze its significance and difficulty. The theory of combinations of old and new buildings, principles and the assessment of the old building and other issues are discussed in detail. The relationship between old and new buildings is the basis for discussing the combined patterns of old and new.Through the analysis of a large number of instances, I summarize up eight combined patterns. These models are not good or bad compared each other, only applicable to different situations. I carry out a systematic summary of pattern diagram, advantages and disadvantages,the applicable situation and successful examples in tabular form. These patterns can be applied directly, and can be combined to use,and must take into account the specific circumstances,analyze specific issues to avoid mechanically. In chapter IV by a detailed analyze of the actual project,I describe the comprehensive consideration of all issues and trade-offs in the specific practice,which reflects the guidance and reference from the earlier theory. The article detailed analyze the many difficulties and challenges encountered in actual project- conservation issues, resettlement issues, the volume rate, sunshine shelter, urban landscape issues and etc. The final solution is proposed after considering all the issues .The last of the pape are summary and prospects.
