The paper elaborates the space feature and cultural connotation of the Chinese traditional courtyard to exploration its deep cultural characteristics. Through practical investigation and information access, mining the natural background, social background and ecological background of the construction development, in contrast to the similarities and differences of the courtyard in residential building design.Although the courtyard no longer is the basic unit of building space, it also plays a role can not be ignored in the housing groups. It has roughly three forms: the group, the Street-style and mixed style, which is particularly important for the study of low high-density housing construction. We hope that we can explore the suitable scale of the crowd and the courtyard through the communication theory, and can explore the type characteristic of the courtyard through typological concept, then we can draw lessons from Utzon’s courtyard housing theory and Correa village concept so as to realize the organic growth of the constructions and the cities. When the high-rise buildings become the main development trend of residential building, courtyard has also undergone tremendous changes. Through the analysis of the high-rise residential buildings’characteristics, we conclude that it’s necessary and feasible to introduce gardens into the modern high-rise residential buildings. From a lot of actual cases, we summed up some application modes of the garden in the high-rise residential buildings, and put forward some specific problems of it.The ultimate aim of this paper is to explore the feasibility of introducing the garden into high density residential building nowadays, and o provide certain theoretical guidance and reference for the future architectural design. |
