Research On Consumer Society And Environmental Issues From The Perspective Of Alan·Durning

It is well known that the speeding degradation of global ecological environment is becoming seriously and the relationship between human and nature is complex and struggled:the entire world dominated by a set of consumption which proves the concept of materialism; and the same time, the consumption of those unrealistic goals gradually turn into the last chance to human’s salvation. Thus, the decision between survival and development which helps to release and ease the tension is the key point for constructing a sustainable human society. With clues provided by Alan·Durning, combines with reference data analysis, rational use of literature analysis, behavioral observation and analog tracking, the essay studied on the functioning of the inside and outside of the consumer society, and systematically analyzed their the relations with ecological environment; then again to the support from environmental philosophy of Marxism’s theory, it helps to the consumer social phenomena change from a purely theoretical observations to cognitive real world. Conclusions as follows:First, environmental problems and irrational consumer behavior in human society ties closely; Second, the presence of the consumer society itself symbolizes the continuing destruction forces of nature; and resolve environmental issues key can not stop at the limited changes in certain forms of technology and social systems, but should be reasonable guidance and containment infinite desire of the consumer class. Of course, here Alan·Durning’s purpose is by no means in order to restrict the consumption of the main highlights and somehow negate the conservative form the awe of the natural world; but also hope that by the morphology of the consumer society in people accurate knowledge, be able to actively correct aware of the way with the purpose of changing consumer object, the human society arising from any mistakes is very likely to hurt and cause ecological chain disruptive change. Therefore, today we want to achieve the grand goal of "beautiful China", they are bound to take the respect nature as the basic stance of the global view, and consider the tension of relationship between consumer-environment dialectically; finally, to established dual standards which could construct ecological communities led to achieve nature’s recovery, and ultimately promote joint, coordinated and sustainable development of all mankind.
