The fire protection coating of steel structure is becoming main research aspect inapplication because of its less dosage and convenient execution. The film-formingmaterial of epoxy acrylate emulsion modified by organic silicon has the property ofgood adhesive attraction, resistance to weather element. The synthetical usage ofinorganic flame retardant, expandable graphite and flame retardant system showes thethermal barrier effect of intumescent system, and it is safe to environment, low cost andenvironment-friendly.This paper researched the best condition to prepare organic silicone modifiedepoxy acrylate emulsion and coating stability. The film-forming material of epoxyacrylate emulsion modified by organic silicon was characterized by Fourier transforminfrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The stability of emulsion and the fire protection coatingwere characterized by TG-DTA, and the propertu of fire protection coating wascharacterized by vertical burning method. The standard of GB14907-2002was toevaluate the se property of fire protection coating.The experimental results showed that the adding amount of epoxy resin was7.7%of the oil phase monomer in the total weight. The nonionic emulsifier OP-10and ionicemulsifier SLS adding ratio was2/1, and addind content was3.3%. The adding amountof KH-570was4.4%, and initiator was0.76%, also as electrolyte adding quantity was0.9%, and water dosage ratio was0.53. The polymerization was reacted at80℃for2.5h with preliminary emulsion monomer drop. The test results were in line withGB/T20623-2006national standard. FT-IR spectral analysis showed that the oil phasemonomer unsaturated double bond had polymerization and graft in the epoxy resin.TG-DTA analysis showed that emulsion coating of weight loss rate is only1.713%when the temperature reach to200°C. The highest thermal weight loss was at200℃~400°C interval. The experimental results showed that the grinding time was60min, dispersingtime was25min, coating thickness was2.76mm, base latex adding amount to totalcoating quality was22.5%, pentaerythritol adding amount to total coating quality was9.0%, melamine adding content was13.5%, ammonium polyphosphate adding quantitywas22.5%, rutile titanium dioxide and hollow glass beads adding ratio was3/1, theadding amount was11.0%, and the adding amount and ratio respectively was can be3.0%and1/1. At the same time the fire retardant time could last100.07minutes.TG-DTA analysis showed that Intumescent coating of weight loss rate was only55.415%when the temperature reach to900°C. In this condition, carbon layer structurewas stable and complete, and the speed of foaming was fast. The fire protection coatingof steel structure we prepared is good to environment, had the good fire retardantproperties, and the functional properties meeted the national standards.
