Steel structure as the pillar material in the construction industry, its fireproofing performance improvement has always been a hot research. Fireproof coating has been an effective method because of its light weight, convenient construction and good fire prevention.Using Epoxy emulsion as the base material, APP,MEL,PER as the fire retardant system, respectively with fly ash drift beads、nano-TiO2,AM,Fe2O3as inorganic fillers and prepared the water based super-thin of fireproof coating for steel structure by a method of blending. Using the test means of FTIR,SEM,XRD and DSC-TGA to characterize the effect of surface modification of inorganic filler filler、the microstructure and composition of fireproof coating, and discussed the fireproofing mechanism. The results show that:the flame performance of fireproof coating using nano-TiO2as inorganic fillers works best, nano-TiO2not only enhance the strength of the carbon layer, also can increase the production amount of TiP2O7, to improve the flame resistive performance. Fly ash drift beads in all could maintain the integrity of structure before and after combustion, forming a solid protective layer to improve the fireproof performance. AM and Fe2O3coating’s fire prevention performance is less than above two kinds.In order to reduce the cost of the coating, the paper also analyzed the fly ash drift beads and nano-TiO2was complex used, when the dosage of fly ash drift beads and nano-TiO2were3%, the performance of fireproof coating was the best. Through orthogonal and contrast experiment, the final formula of waterborne epoxy ultrathin steel structure fireproof coating for:base material emulsion of20%, the fire retardant system of63%, EG of4.5%, nano-TiO2and fly ash drift of3%. and a moderate amount of additives. The coating works best and physicochemical properties meet the national standard. When the coating thickness is1.9mm, the fireproof time can be up to107min.
