Strategy Of Contemporary Chinese Ecological Protection Research

The idea of ecological protection has a long history in China, datingback to Han dynasty, Dong Zhongshu proposed the concept of “harmonybetween human and nature” and it has become the dominant foundation ofecological protection in ancient Chinese feudal society. Since the foundingof PRC, the leaders of Communist Party of China have highly valued theecological problems and constantly regarded them as initial, consideringthe problems of sustainable development, population, resources andenvironment as the most important issues. Hu Jintao pointed out in theThe report of the18th National Congress of the CPC:“We must raise ourecological awareness of the need to respect, accommodate to and protectnature. We must give high priority to making ecological progress andincorporate it into all aspects and the whole process of advancingeconomic, political, cultural, and social progress, work hard to build a beautiful country, and achieve lasting and sustainable development of theChinese nation.”. Therefore, the solution of the ecological problemsdirectly influences the development of Chinese economy and society, theconstruction of harmonious society and the great rejuvenation of Chinesenation.The thesis analyzes the theoretical foundation, practical basis of theformation and development of the strategies of ecological protection,based on which a brief summary of ecological protection is provided fromthe perspectives of its strategic thought, principle, purpose, emphasis andprocedures. After constructing a systematic grasp of the strategy ofecological protection, the thesis proposes several implements of ecologicalprotection, including the strengthening the public awareness of ecologicalprotection, establishing healthy mechanism for ecological compensation,and completing the relevant systems of safeguard measures and scientificand technological safeguards. At last, the thesis explores the practicalvalues ecological protections, which are to be favorable to adjusting the direction of construction and investment, be favorable to promoting theshift of the party’s ruling concept, be favorable to the thorough implementof the scientific outlook of development, and be favorable to constructionof a well-off society.
