Taking "building wind" as the theme, which has been the hot of the fashion industry in recent years. In the design field, clothing and architectural elements have a lot of common elements, one of which is that historic buildings are often clothing designers’favor. Through in-depth study of Chinese Ming dynasty architecture cornices element modeling and other cultural connotation, I put the Ming dynasty architecture cornices modeling elements into use of the men’s suit profile design, which successfully makes national fashion suits profile of the new period, and bring huge economic benefits for a company by getting market recognition through the market. At the same time it has exploration significance to studying national elements and the use of national culture and heritage, strengthening national pride, improving the design product’s added value, meeting the fashion consumption demand and creating national culture brand.The paper first to Ming dynasty cornices element data access and by means of field investigation. From the Ming dynasty architecture cornices elements related to the history, connotation, function and cornices modelling characteristics and so on several aspects of comprehensive elaboration, and separately from its culture, image, intention of the three aspects of aesthetic analysis.Then, from macroscopic view and microcosmic view, I analyse the internal relation of the architecture and clothing, and thoroughly explain the usage of the cornice element in clothing design in homes outs.I researched the theory material of the China Western style suit’s history and classification, did hands-on investigation of the Western style suit market in the northeast of China, the east of China, the central China, learned the current market situation of Western style suit brand in homes outs and analysed the fashion trend of China from the aspects of design, clothing material, flower type, version. Thus, I can master modern Western style suit design current situation and trend better to offer sufficient basis to the research project.At last, through the field survey and the combination of the theory and practice and the design change trend of the new era, according to the related materials and research achievements, I explored the application of the cornice shape in the field of men’s Western style suit design and applied the theory into the practice. I anslysed the external shape of cornice and it’s connotation of culture to excavate the new design method of the men’s Western style suit with the cornice element of China traditional architecture:1using the shape of cornice to creat the shape. I introduced architectural design technique of the Ming dynasty’s architecture into the design of the shoulder of men’s Western style suit, making the new design of the shoulder line backward moving succeed with the process of the new technology and chieve a perfert image of Chinese men’s shoulder.2using the internal verve to creat shape. From the verve of the cornice to show the internal cultural ethos of elegent flying----It’s a kind of positive and elegent ethos of showing oneself. It has hard wing angle and perfect cornice curve and has a kind of tacit agreement with the appearance of the Western style suit-----The modern men pursue the Western style suit which has hard appearance and elegant line. I searched for inspiration from the cultural connotation of the cornice and the new breakthrough from the proportion innovation of men’s garment. Ⅰ redistrict the proportion and the shape of the Western style suit, break through the traditional structure of the sleeve shape. The innovation of the new outline and the classic clipping of the narrow edition build a sense of the time which accords with aesthetic appreciation of the modern men to the Western style suit. Compared with the conventional design of the Western style suit in the market, the feature of new fashion is apparent. I complete this research project with exploring the cornice shape element and the China men’s Western style suit design.In a word, through the try of applying the cornice elements design to the suit, it is the key of solving the problem how to mix Chinese traditional modeling elements into modern western-style clothing and build a Chinese national characteristics of the dress. This practice actively advocated the national advanced culture, which makes the fine traditional culture of China art develop extensively in the modern design. In the meanwhile, it creates new national form by expressing Chinese traditional elements with Chinese traditional culture essence in modern international language. The symbol of spiritual elements was mixed into the modern design, which makes national culture spirit and the world design language commonly fusion into the mainstream of the modern art design. the wisdom of the ancestors left dissolved, scattered and mixed again into product and brand, which makes Chinese clothing an integral part of the "national style", so that it can promote the Chinese culture to the world and let more people know about Chinese culture.
