With ultra-precision gear were widely used in the aerospace and military fields, it is urgent that improves the level of manufacturing and testing for ultraprecision gear. Pitch deviation is one of required inspection of national accuracy standards, and it mainly affects the accuracy of transmission movement and smooth of transmission process.This paper mainly researches on measurement and application of pitch deviation for ultra-precision gear (class1and class2).The measuring principles of pitch deviation are analyzed and compared through learning the accuracy standards about ultra-precision gear and investigating the status of testing and measuring instruments around the world, concering the difference of old and new China National Standards, the following several aspects were studied deeply:1. Through lots of experiments, the accuracy of hardwares (they are locating device for measuring head, indexing device, data collecting device, and gear locating device) of the ultra-precision pitch deviation measurement system were obtained. The measuring results proved all hardwares accuracy had already met the demand after being adjusted carefully.2. Measurement software of pitch deviation measurement system was designed and conducted comprehensively, it was based on object-oriented idea under the environment of VC++, which has the functions of data collecting, multi-teeth indexing, repeat positioning, data processing, error analyzing, and instrument testing,. The whole process of pitch deviation measurement and data processing could be finished automatically.3. The calculation method for dividing errors of the gear was obtained through analyzing the relationship among the dividing error of grinding machine, gear eccentricity installation, and the pitch deviation. By adjusting the grinding machine according to the calculated dividing error, the dividing error of grinding machine and the cumulative pitch deviation of the gear were decreased and the manufacturing accuracy was enhanced.4. Analyzing each factor in the entire measurement system which affected measurement results of the pitch deviation, using uncertainty theory to evaluated uncertainty components of the measurement system, therefore assessment results were used to verify the accuracy of the measuring system. 5. Through pitch deviation measurement system to measured pitch deviation on left and right flanks of4003ultra-precision gear, the results proved that pitch deviation measurement system has the capacity to measure gears with precision class1. Verified error compensation function of the measurement software by experiment is effective.The study demonstrated that self-build ultra-precision gear pitch deviation measurement system was qualified for measuring pitch deviation of ultra-precision gears with precision class1or class2.
