In Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, the basic needs of body and security once satisfied, people will chase for the higher level needs of society, ego and self acturalization.Nowadays, product design also needs to take human spiritual needs into consideration, beside the realization of function. In this era with extremely rich material, wedding ring becomes more and more popular for the reason that it reflects self consciousness and symbolizes good marriage.Wedding ring is more like one kind of emotional consumption goods which differ from common factional consumption goods, that the focal point in its design is the perceptual image. Most youths need wedding rings which show their hope for the happy life when they get married. In the past, people payed much more attention to the material value of rings than the emotional value. But today, the cultural value and perceptual image have a great effect on people’s purchase decision. Although countless styles of wedding rings has been existing in China, their design with less cultural connotation still lack of systematicness and innovativeness. And few researchers have studied ring’s perceptual image. Therefore, taking the wedding ring as the main object of study, and learning from the Kansei engineering methods so that to establish a correspondence between the emotional vocabulary and wedding ring morphology, than use mathematical and statistical methods to obtain the conclusion. The purpose is to explore the relationship between people’s emotional imagery and design elements of the wedding ring, try to analyze and extract the appropriate design features, in order to be able to provide new ideas for the future of wedding ring design.
