Research On Measures To Treat Water Pollution In Rural Area Of Dong Thap Province In Viet Nam

Along with the development of human society, environmental pollution is increasing. Environmental pollution is now more and more serious, especially in developing countries, becoming one of the crucial problems that most countries in the world take into consideration.Along with the rapid development of market economy, environmental pollution is more serious and concerning. Nowadays, the problems of environmental pollutions, especially water pollution, not only affect quality of air, land, water but also affect human life.Without water, both human and animals cannot survive. However, we are now facing a risk of water pollution and lack of clean water. According to statistics in2010of World Health Organization, in developing countries, up to80%of diseases are related to water pollution. In Vietnam annually there are20.000people dying of using polluted water source. Furthermore, the rate of worm infected patients in the rural area of Vietnam, in which children patient accounting for44%, is the highest in the world. This is one of the main reasons resulting in decrease in the number of children in Vietnam.In recent years, socio-economy of Dong Thap province is developing in the direction of urbanization, industrialization and modernization. The rapid transition in the structure of vegetation, animal agriculture and increasing cultivation, the increase in area and quality of aquaculture, mechanization of agriculture, and the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides makes the water environment of Dong Thap province worse and worse, affecting the diversification, living environment of species and human health.In addition, along with a quick increase of urbanization, industrialization of Dong Thap, the foundation of industrial zones, sub-industrial zones and the development of handicraft villages along with foundation of residential area, broadening and newly construction of transport system as well as irrigation projects have also affected the healthy development of water environment.In this situation, recent years, Dong Thap province has approved propagating activities for environmental protection, raising awareness of environmental protection and measures and policies such as examination, punishment, and has achieved considerable results.This thesis mainly assesses the actual situation of water environment quality in period from2005to2010of Dong Thap province, the mutual interaction between socioeconomic development and environmental protection. Referring socioeconomic direction and plan of environmental protection and measuring water environment developing trend in Dong Thap province in the future, the thesis predicts the performance of environment quality in period from2010to2020and presents some policy proposals to solve environment related problems.
