In recent years, the development of iron and steel industry is vigorous, and the demand for round-steel is rising sharply. But in the process of rolling, forging and drawing, due to forcing, uneven cooling and heating or transportation and stacking, round-steel will produce bending and distortion in different degree, or internal residual stress, which will affect the quality of finished products. Therefore, these defects are necessary to be eliminated in production via straightening.Cross roll straightening machine applies to straightening tubes and bars. It has many advantages, such as its simple structure, convenient operation and high straightening precision. But both the current roll shape theories and the processes of the calculation are complicate. As a result, the efficiency of the roller designing is low, and the cycle of the producing is long. Most of the roller were obtained through the design with free hand or using the empircal formula. On the one hand, this paper applies the to the current no bending roll shape. On the other hand, this paper modified the key parameter about the bending roller shape and straigtening force. Based on the modified roll shape theory, the thesis develops the CAD system about the cross straightening roller, utilizing the function of the SolidWorks API and Visual Basic. The system is helpful to change the status about designing the roller shape with free hand currently, integrates the calculation on the design of roller shape, the analysis on the roller shape and creation on the module of the roller shape as a whole. It also realizes the storage, process and manager of the roller shape data, saves the human cost, and shortens development cycle of the cross roll straighteners.
