Plate is an important steel material in the iron and steel production, which is widely usedin engineering plant, petroleum chemical industry, boiler, ships, containers, bridges, nationaldefense construction, and so on, accounting for about10%of the total steel production. As theexpanding of the use scope of plates, various industries increasingly show high demand for thephysical quality of the plates, the demand for plate shape is also getting higher and higher.There would be certain flatness defects on the steel plates, due to the productionmaximization and various external factors in the production process as well as storage. Theycan’t meet the use requirement in terms of straightness. So we must straighten these plates withdefects on them in order to achieve the quality standards and use requirements. During the steelstraightening process, the material manifests different deformation resistances due to differenttemperatures, so it is important to study the deformation resistance of the steels. This can beused to calculate the mechanical parameters during the straightening process, meanwhile, it alsoprovides the preconditions for the development of suitable straightening procedures.In recent years, there emerges a large number of mathematical models in the study of thedeformation resistance, but rarely can be used in the straightening process. In this paper, we teston some commonly used plates (WDL610D E63grade ship plate, HG785and45#) with thehelp of Gleeble-1500thermal simulation machine. We study the influence of differentdeformation conditions to the deformation resistance of the steels and carry on thoroughanalysis. According to the data, selecting appropriate deformation resistance model fornonlinear fitting, we obtain deformation resistance model for different steels, and their precisioncan meet significant requirements. In order to verify the rationality of them, we contrast thecalculated value to the measured value. The error meets the actual requirements. So the modelscan be applied to practical production.
