In this paper, the status of glass production both in China and abroad is described.Then the common forms of glass packages, such as wooden packaging, package withsteel and wood, glass with no package, steel case are summarized. The basic standardsfor packing design and the choice methods of buffer material are introduced. Based onthat, an adjustable glass box is designed and the key technologies during productdevelopment are studied. The main work of this paper is as follows:1. Complete the overall design of adjustable box for sheet glass with size from40”×16” to70”×32”,which maximum load2tons.2. Research and analyze the influence of impact and vibration during transporting.Explain the role of buffer material and selection method. Calculate the size of buffermaterial on the bottom frame and back frame.3. With the help of ANSYS, analyzed and calculate the load-bearing properties ofglass packaging,then make optimization design. The results show that the structure ofthe sheet glass box is stability when carrying2tons, no obvious distortion taken place.Therefore, the glass box has enough strength to accept2tons of load.4. Put forward new testing methods of angle and flatness. According to the nationalstandards of GB, make several tests of the box,such as load-bearing test, stacking test,fork lift test, etc. The results show that the packaging designed meets the performancerequirements.
