As the precious natural resources and origin of biodiversity, wetlands play enormous benefits on ecology, society and economy. Wetlands have been paid great deal of attention on the importance and speciality, as humans knowledge increasing. With effective management and comprehensive function on wetland management ecosystem, GIS makes it information technology and digitization, and has been the effective techniques for information integration and wetlands management.This paper takes urban lake wetland in Wuhan as the research object, sets up geodatabase, and develops lake wetland information system. The system has achieved basic fuctions, thematic properties of statistics and analysis, which provides a scientific basis and data sharing platform for ecosystem decision-making and management planning of lake wetlands in Wuhan.Main results are as follows:1. Based on ComGIS and ArcGIS Engine superiority, the system can separate the ArcGIS platform into the common-user desktop application. Considering the user requirements, designing system structure, and using Visual Studio visual tool with the C#language combining ArcGIS Engine components, the lake wetlands information system has been set up to providing sharing platform.2. Wuhan lake wetlands informations have been collected and the database has been set up. The paper has collected massive data, deepened data, finished the data sources and data formats, established data model, and completed the database. The data are in hierarchical storage, containing lakes attribute data and geodata.Main attribute data contains:basic geographic information, social information, wetlands vegetation characteristic information, degradation characteristic information and water quality characteristic information. Main spatial data contains:Wuhan TM remote sensing images, land use classification map, lakes and wetlands shape map, as well as water quality thematic maps.3. The paper has determined the system structure and designed function realization. The system general structure is designed as three-layered structure:the basis database layer-technique processing layer-interactive interface application layer. The system is designed as six function modules:map control, basic information retrieval, arbitrary combination search, thematic statistical analysis, database management, help and output management.4. The paper has achieved Wuhan lake wetlands geographic information system. Combined ArcGIS Engine with the Visual Studio visual, it has completed each interface design of the system function and code programming. Wuhan lake wetland vegetation and water quality information subsystems have been conducted special inquiries, functional design of statistics and analysis. Vegetation functional module has set of38lakes wetlands Gallery and466kinds of Plants gallery; it has realized visualization show in the form, as to help the department of Plant Protection of the wetland research; water quality function module based on the original data and reference standard of eco-efficiency evaluation, has realized carrying capacity of statistical analysis and rating chart of38lakes, as to provide useful guidance to lakes and wetlands environmental monitoring department.
