When polymer injection block of oil field come to the subsequent water flooding stage,we found that the polymer flooding stable yield forms become worse,water cut rise faster,theproduction sharply diminished and the effect of polymer flooding was not ideal enough tomake up the declined production. All mentioned above lead to the decline of polymerflooding production. Therefore,using the system meticulous polymer flooding polymer andresidual oil distribution research, further EOR method which is more clear, comprehensivedetermine after polymer flooding is very necessary.This paper summarizes the retention way after polymer flooding and the flow patterns ofpolymer molecules in porous media,and apply the Eclipse and Sim-office numericalsimulation software to create a hypothetical model based on the actual situation, which canreflect the geologic characteristic of the area. Using the conceptual and imaginary reservoirgeologic model for polymer and virtual water flooding simulation, quantitative analysis of thepolymer retention and residual oil distribution are investigated in a series of geologicalmodels for the universality of the law.
