Urban Furniture Design Under Yunnan Yi Culture Background

Once out of cultural considerations, the urban construction must be a failure.Urban Furniture is public facilities facing to the human, the urban cultural vector on thescale of human，and it is very important to culture preservation and heritage. Yi is one ofChina’s minorities in the larger population, and it is an important component of China’sethnic. With the economic development of Yi, enhance quality of life, respect fornational characteristics have become increasingly urgent need. So it is very important toresearch the characteristics of the culture of Yi, and put forward the urban furnituredesigning which can reflect the characteristic of Yi. This can preserve the characteristicsof Yi, rich urban furniture design practice, and promote the development of urbanfurniture design.This article aims to study the way of urban furniture design under the context of Yiculture.At first, with clarifying the relationship between urban culture and its carrier, thispaper attempts to clarify the relationship between urban culture and urban furniture, andform the main idea of this paper. This article argues that, during the process of urbanfurniture design, urban culture is the core； urban culture carrier is the outside of urbanculture. Urban culture carrier includes urban space, urban symbol, and urban activities.Urban furniture is one part of urban symbol, while it contents different design elements.During the process of urban furniture designing, at first, we should extract thecharacteristics of urban culture from urban culture carrier, then, transforming thecharacteristics of urban culture into the standard for choice and symbol, we can reflectthe characteristics of urban culture during the design of urban furniture.Secondly, during the literature study, this paper combs the main characteristics ofYunnan Yi’ culture, from the houses, clothing, food, text, art, religion, feelings customs,calendar and other urban culture carrier.Thirdly, form the elements in urban furniture designing, this paper chooses thedesign elements which can reflect the main characteristics of Yunnan Yi’ culture, andtries to build the element system in urban furniture designing.Finally, we make a program named landscape design of Qing long r. and Yi haiwhich I have participated as the study object, to analysis the design technique to respectthe local culture in the design process, and to put forward the things should pay attention to in the future of urban furniture design, in order to enhance the paper’spractical significance, in order to verify the method.The main achievements of this paper include: analysis the relationship amongurban culture, urban cultural vector, and the urban furniture, summarizes major sourceof design elements in the process of urban furniture designing, proposed framework ofurban furniture designed to reflect Yi’s urban culture, and its principles and designtechniques.
