Our country’s history of garment industry is relatively short, and the current inmapping methods of garment industry are mainly from the West. Through the method of re-made the clothes to study the structure characteristics is an important way to promote Chinese garment industry.Worth, as the founder of Haute Couture fashion, his design style has typical characteristics. In particular, it showed a large number of bustle dresses.Worth had made significant contributions to the development of the fashion industry, and in the pre-data collection, the situation that domestic designers have not yet carried out a detailed study was found. Therefore, this article chooses Worth typical works as the object of study. Research purpose is as followed:through re-made of Worth’s design, this article makes a preliminary attempt to explore the basic laws and approaches of re-made the western clothes.The research methodology of this article, mainly are through object and picture analysis, taking the relevant literature and images as supporting evidence, to infer the detail, structure and the size of the restore clothes. Thus, the model structures are made accordingly, and the clothes are made in both the way of drafting and draping. Through the comparison of re-made clothes and the original work, the general mode of how to restore the western clothes is proved.The content of this article are as followed:the first part is the context of the clothes restore research, to analyse Charles·F·Worth’s life and works, and summarized his significant contribution to the development of the fashion industry. Through the research and analysis, a clear understanding of his dress style is presented, and the domestic study of his life and work are enriched. In addition, a more concrete understanding of the development and changes of clothing on the second half of the nineteenth century are made.The second part in this article is to find the object of clothes re-made study. By analysing the general principles of choosing the object of study, this article chooses the object of study from the aspects of historical research meaning, the typical features of clothes, and the feasibility of the study. From this part of the article, the general principles of western clothes re-made are understood.The third part is to infer the size, the detail and the structure. Based on the pictures of the object of re-made, combined with related literature, in the third part, the style restory image are drawn. Through the study on basic patterns of Worth time, and the analysis of four similar clothing structure, sizes, this article infers specific data of details (chest circumference, waistline, chest depth, shoulder width, etc.), the article also analyses the objects which have a significant impact on clothing of that time, namely the corsets, crinolines, bustles and etc., generally infers the silhouette of the clothing re-made object.Based on the above analysis, in part four, the article shows the structure of the object of clothes restore, using both drafting and draping to specifically make the dress. Through the comparison between restore dress and the picture of Worth’s original work, the study confirmed the correctness of the clothes restore. In the end of this article, the study process and result are summarized.
