Study On The Informatuion Related With Fashion In 《LingLong》Magazine In 1930S

<Ling Long>,as one of the most important women’s magazines in1930s, the information related with fashion in it can fully reflect the categories of costumes, people’s fashion concept and features of women’s image of "Ling Long group" which mainly consisted by intelligentsias. The fashion information in <Ling Long> is an irreplaceable and important materials of Chinese fashion history researching. It is helpful to display the various fashion features of different social classes in republic period, and it’s also a more exquisite and important complement for the research of fashion in republic period. At the present time, there is no systematic research of the fashion information in <Ling Long> magazine from 1931-1937.This thesis regards the fashion information in <Ling Long> magazine as the object of study. The information were firstly collected, then classified and filtered according to the certain standard.Multiple methods such as comparison, statistics,analyses and concluding were comprehensive used to display the main categories of costumes and accessories, and analyze the evolution of typical costumes and their features in "Ling Long group". Through analyze typical women, reveal the characteristic of costume categories, image and fashion concept of intelligentsia women. Its influence of social fashion prevalence and relationship with apparel culture will also be discussed.Here are some conclusions:1.<Ling Long> was a women’s magazine which contained high concentration of fashion information. The information can be classified into three categories:literature, picture and literature-pic mixed. Certainty of time, Certainty of status, and richness of pictorial information were three main features of the fashion information in <Ling Long>.2. "Ling Long group" was mainly consisted by intelligentsias and also included medium and high-level women in society such as film stars, celebridads, etc. They all had big impact on fashion at that time.3.The major features of Qi Pao in <Ling Long> could be seen by the year-to-year analysis and comparison with the social prevalence:The intelligentsias’Qi Pao experienced a process that hemlines changed from very short to very long and then raised slightly. There was a very big difference with social prevalence between 1931and1933. Half-length sleeves and slit below the knees were also the main features. The decoration of intelligentsias’Qi Pao was simplicity and concise, and monochrome predominantly. Intelligentsias’Qi Pao remained its uniqueness as well as following the social prevalence.4.Main categories of costumes in <Ling Long> included:Qi Pao, Two-set traditional Chinese dress, innovative style costume which mixed western and traditional Chinese costume style. The ways of matching these costumes were variable.5.Categories of accessories in <Ling Long> were abundant. Each category had different features when they put on different people. Intelligentsias seemed to be frugal while celebrities showed gorgeously.6.The image of "Ling Long group" not only reserved traditional Chinese aesthetic standard but also absorbed western aesthetic features. The image of intelligentsias contained stylish and elegant images just liked modern ladies as well as frugal and dignified images just liked progressionists. Their images were more rich and varied than celebrities.7.Information related with fashion in <Ling Long> magazine played an improving role on introducing western categories of costumes and concept of western aesthetics.It constructed a public space of displaying different images and offered a platform for expressing different concepts of fashion. <Ling Long> promoted transforming of women’s fashion concept.
