Study On The Development And Path Selection Of Marine Economy In Zhoushan

Marine economy is a general term which refers to a series of human activities aimedat the utilization of marine resources and space，and these activities including marinefishery，marine transportation，shipbuilding， marine tourism，marine mining，etc. The21st century is an era of ocean, and the focus of China’s economy growth will gradualshifted from terrestrial economy to marine economy. In June2011, the State Councilofficially approved the Zhejiang Zhoushan Archipelago New Area, Which is the fourthstate level new area in China, and also the first national-strategic-level new area that everfocused on the marine economy. In January2013, Zhejiang Zhoushan Archipelago NewArea planning programs is also issued by the State Council, a large-scale development ofZhoushan’s marine economy is about to begin.In this dissertation, the author first analyzes the present situation of natural andsocio-economic conditions, as well as the development and industrial layout status quo,then comes to summarize the advantages and disadvantages existed in Zhoushan’s marineeconomic development. In the next chapter, this dissertation picks four coastal or islandcities：Singapore，Hong Kong，Ningbo and Yuhuan—which share several certain aspectsin common with Zhoushan’s marine economy, for case study，discusses the pattern andspecific ways of their growth in marine economy. In the fourth chapter，the authorcombined Zhoushan’s own realities with these coastal or island cities’ experiences,proposed several specific path and countermeasures of Zhoushan’s marine economicdevelopment in the environment of the great construction of Zhoushan Archipelago NewArea.Unlike most similar dissertations or works which are focused on relatively wide rangeareas, this dissertation is from a relatively microscopic point of view, analyzes ZhoushanArchipelago New Area’s marine economic development in the environment of nationalstrategy. Meanwhile, this dissertation applies theories of growth pole, regional division oflabor and trade, sustainable development into the analysis of Zhoushan’s marine economy.
