Now the study for geographical national condition monitoring is still in its infancy, aunified content and index system has not yet been formed, so that building a clarified level,well-defined monitoring contents and index system, it has the importance for the project, forgetting current situation, trends and development tendency of geographical situation, forcountries making important decisions and policy formulation provides the basis, for relateddepartments to provide professional monitoring of basic public data.In this paper, from the application point of view, comprehensive analysis of the naturaland humanistic geography elements, combined with the national basic geographic informationdata results, classified the monitoring content by the line classification, I constructed theobject-oriented monitoring of geographical situation content classification system. Based onhaving a clear understanding of geographic conditions monitoring, absorption from thedomestic and foreign existing index system of advanced research results and experiences, foreach type of monitoring objects selected basic index, statistical index and analysis indicators, initially I constructed the monitoring of geographical conditions index system. Combinedwith the index system content and the technical system characteristics, and referenced therelated monitoring, statistics analysis method. Then I made the extraction method research forthe various types of typical and universal strong indicators. Lastly, by selecting reservoirelements as the research object, I carried out the indicators extracted experimental, verifiedthe feasibility of the extraction of index.
