The traditional production way relies predominantly on cottage industry. When it comes to modern times, a series of changes have been made to the production method of sericulture in Sichuan. It is highlighted in the highly strengthening degree of commercialization, especially for the emerging filature factories in modern times, which stimulated the development of commercialization economy of Sichuan sericulture and caused a series of changes in production tools, ways of operation and management, etc. As a result, it objectively promoted the procedure of modernization for Sichuan. The 5 stages of sericulture production are as follows: mulberry planting, seed breeding, silkworm feeding, silk reeling and spinning. Each stage is closely connected to each other, which constitutes as a unity. The improvement of producing tools was conducted primarily, which greatly improved the efficiency of silk reeling. Spurred by Santai and Hechuan, the sericulture rush came in Sichuan for developing modern sericulture industry.
