Chongqing Manufacturing Development Research

As a pillar industry of the national economy, manufacturing industry is an important sign to measure the level of industrialization or competitiveness of a country or a region. Since Chongqing became a municipality, the manufacturing industry has developed rapidly, both the rate and the quality of growth have been improved greatly, the manufacturing industry has became an important engine of economic growth of Chongqing. In the new stage of promoting Chongqing "seeking a breakthrough, upon the stage, making great development ", Chongqing's manufacturing industry is facing with unprecedented opportunities and challenges. This paper deals with the structure and competitiveness of Chongqing's manufacturing industry, puts forward some strategies for the development, which plays an important role in enhancing the overall competitiveness of Chongqing, constructing the economic growth pole of Western Region, the economic center of Yangtze River, the urban and rural municipality, taking the lead in building a well-off society in an all-round way in the western region.With the guidance of theories of regional economics, industry economics, and statistics, this paper combines normative analysis with empirical analysis. First, defines and provides a general view of the relevant concepts and basic theories of the industrial, and then reviews the successful experience of manufacturing industry of developed areas at home and abroad. By using the method of Shift Share Analysis Method, Specialization ratio, Location Quotient, this article carry out comparative analysis of the structure and competitiveness of Chongqing's manufacturing industry. Based on the analysis, this paper conducting an investigation in the current status, the existent problem, the causes of the problem of the manufacturing in Chongqing, The result shows that Chongqing's manufacturing industry has problems such as scattered layout, less professional sector, single structure, the slow development of new industries, weak in industry competitive, the advantage of leading industry is not prominent and so on. On the basis of objective analysis and grasping the development status of Chongqing's manufacturing Industry, the paper concludes with proposal of manufacturing industry development, focuses on the adjustment of industrial structure and layout, industry cluster, the midfield industry construction, capacity for independent innovation and so on.
