With the increasing market competition and a higher level of product diversification, mass customization has become the mainstream mode of production. Mass customization can manufacture customized products for customers with the form of mass production, which is low in cost and high in efficiency. At present, many scholars at home and abroad study the concept, classification and product design of mass customization from a technical angle, and achieve fruitful results. However, there have little research from the production management angle; especially researches on production planning of mass customization are rarer. Therefore, establishing a reasonable production plan according to mass customization features will be able to effectively reduce the cost of mass customization of products and improve the response speed of customer demand.In this dissertation, it is researched that the production planning for mass customization from the flexible angle. According to the characteristics of mass customization, it analyzes the problem of insufficient flexibility of traditional production planning, and traditional production planning is improved to achieve the objective of rapidly responding to the needs of product diversification.Firstly, according to the characteristics of diversified demand and shorter delivery time, it analyzes insufficient flexibility of traditional production planning on the master production scheduling, products structure management and production planning process of mass customization. And then, with the modular approach, it build double plan of flexible master production scheduling, the product family structure model and the "PUSH/PULL" production planning process model for these problems. On this basis, a flexible architecture of the production planning is built. Meanwhile, with great group technology and priority list method, a flexible job shop scheduling is built for mass customization.Finally, the analysis and design of the flexible production planning system is finished for mass customization. And then, it implements this system based on the component development technology. With the application of interface components, business logic components and data maintenance component, the reusability and flexibility of the system is achieved. Then this system is empirical researched with the context of automotive engine manufacturers, proving the feasibility of the production plan system and the system flexibility and reusability.
