A Study On The Development Strategy Of Shanghai Caohejing High-Tech Park

Currently the world economy has not completely recovered from the financial crisis, and it will experience vibration and adjust. As important areas of trading with other countries, High-Tech Parks will face a lot of difficulties. It is important to make strategic development plans for these High-Tech Parks, not only for continuing their healthy development, but also for leading the economy development of areas surrounding them. Caohejing High-Tech Park used to be the NO. 1 development area in Shanghai, but it also faces challenges of keeping its advantages.This research firstly reviewed development theories and strategy theories of Development Areas of Economy and Technologies. Then based on theory of strategic management, 14 interviewing questions were designed and 28 companies in Caohejing High-Tech Park were interviewed. The interviewing questions were mainly about whether the development area is designed properly, whether the service from the Development Area's management team is in time, whether the company got support during the process of establishment, and what kind of difficulties the company is facing. The interview shows that from the viewpoint of companies, the most attractive point of the development area is its location, and other main attractive points include friendly policy and advantage of industry clustering. Most of the companies believe the Caogejing Development Area's development direction and industry structure are proper. And most of the companies think that the Caohejing High-Tech Park should strength its advantages in location, policy, industry, and scientific management.Based on the above interview, with PEST method, this thesis analyzed the macro environment of policy, economy, social, and technology for Caohejing High-Tech Park, and did bench mark analysis with silicon valley in patent numbers, members'education, added value per capital, culture and management, and then this theise analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the area's inner ability, and its outside challenges and risks with SWOT method. And finally the development strategy of Caohejing High- Tech Park is given. This research will provide some helpful reference for how to strength Caohejing High-Tech Park's advantages and how to avoid its disadvantages.
