With innovations in management and production technology, the competition among enterprises, which has changed essentially, now is focusing more on non-production field than internal production organization. The competition among enterprises is evolving into competition of supply chains, and logistics increasingly become an important domain. Some well-known steel companies form abroad and home, e.g. POSCO, Nippon Steel Corporation, Bao Steel, Sha Gang Group, etc, have realized that excellent logistics system will dramatically enforce the enterprise's competitiveness and facilitate sustainable development. Those companies have begun to invest in logistics management system under the background of modern supply chain, and take such investment as a key fundament for development strategy. The theory and practice of logistics management system under the background of modern supply chain, which come through fast development in recent years, have formed mature theory system and rich experience system.The train of thought of this paper is raising questions, making analysis, resolving problems, and then making conclusions. At the beginning of the paper, the author elaborates relevant fundamental of logistics, especially that in steel industry, and clarifies specific range of the study subject. In the following part, development trends in steel industry abroad and home, current logistics management in some well-known enterprises, as well as problems existing in TISCO logistics management system are analyzed; besides, the author raise a suggestion on how to set up a logistics management system under supply chain, i.e. practicing and optimizing in stock management, precision production, e-commerce, and information technology. Finally, the paper gets a conclusion and forecasts the development trends of logistics management in future steel industry.
