The science and technology museum is a kind of non-profit undertaking. Its main function is to raise people's scientific quality by carrying out education of exhibition, training and experiment. Since the reform and opening policy, the undertaking of science and technology museum has entered unprecedented developing stage in China. But with the rapid development of infrastructure and exhibits, adding the higher demand of the public to its function, the science and technology museum exposed some management problems. For example, there is no unified standard in the field of service, management and evaluation etc. So the staffs lack enthusiasm, initiative, responsibility, sense of mission, urgency and effective communication. There is no effective cooperation among departments. The problems above radically restrict the development of the museum. By researching the successful experience of some museums and my own working experience, I believe that the key to break the bottlenecks is, starting from performance assessment system, to promote scientific, effective performance management system in these museums.This paper tries to discuss the performance assessment system from two layers. One is from the theory layer to state the goal, principle, way and application of the performance assessment in science and technology museum. The other is from practicing layer, taking Tianjin Science and Technology Museum as example, to analyze the existing problems of the performance assessment in effect, design new performance assessment, performance feedback and result application and try to make a set of scientific performance assessment system in museums. I hope this paper can catch related experts and scholars'attention and thinking. |
