Application Research On Economic Value Evaluation Of Science And Technology Museum

With the increasing investment of the central and local governments at all levels in the cultural industry,the Science and Technology Museum has also begun to flourish,which can not only stimulate people’s interest in learning and exploring science,spread science and culture,but also drive the development of local economy to a certain extent.However,most of the science and technology museums are supported by government financial investment,and all services in the museum are provided free of charge.Therefore,the effect of the Science and Technology Museum on the use of financial funds,public feedback,and the driving effect of local economic development need to be further studied.Whether from the perspective of government public expenditure or from the perspective of the development of the Science and Technology Museum itself,it is very necessary to carry out an objective and rigorous evaluation of the economic value of the Science and Technology Museum.The purpose of this paper is to measure the economic value generated by Science and Technology Museums.After in-depth study of the relevant literature of economic value evaluation at home and abroad,this study defines the economic impact of the Science and Technology Museum as the impact of the economic activities of the science and Technology Museum on a specific economic region in a specific period of time.The economic impact of science and Technology Museum includes direct economic value and indirect economic impact.The direct economic value of the science and Technology Museum refers to the direct economic benefits generated by the existence of the activities of the Science and Technology Museum and the provision of corresponding services.The indirect economic impact of science and technology museums refers to the impact of the existence of science and technology museums on the local economy.It is necessary to consider the impact of Science and Technology Mseums on other economic departments in the whole regional economic system.This research attempts to explore a set of evaluation frameworks suitable for the economic value evaluation of domestic Science and Technology Museums,and evaluates the direct economic value and the indirect economic impact respectively.The direct economic value of Science and Technology Museum is calculated using the Contingent Valuation Method.The implementation of Contingent Valuation Method is mainly combined with the unique service-user matrix of the Science and Technology Museum,and by means of a questionnaire survey,the visitors of the Science and Technology Museum are asked about their willingness to pay for the services of the Science and Technology Museum.In terms of indirect economic impact,Economic Impact Analysis Method is used.At present,China only carries out cost-benefit analysis on public cultural institutions and studies their direct economic value,but has not carried out relevant research on their driving impact on the local economy.Foreign countries mainly use IMPLAN,REMI and RIMSII three kinds of economic impact assessment software to measure economic impact,but these three kinds of software cannot be directly applied in China,and there is no ready-made economic impact assessment software similar to the above three softwares in China.Therefore,this study can only try to establish the measurement framework of the economic impact of domestic public cultural service institutions according to the basic principles of the application of these three kinds of software.This research will try to explore an evaluation model suitable for the regional economic impact of domestic Science and Technology Museums,and study the economic impact measurement framework.By establishing an input-output model and using the data in the input-output table,various coefficients and multipliers are calculated.The indirect economic impact of the Science and Technology Museum includes the total effect on the output,resident income,employment,and GDP of the region where it is located.After constructing a set of evaluation framework suitable for the economic value evaluation of domestic Science and Technology Museums,this study takes a Science and Technology Museum in Beijing as an example to demonstrate the application of the evaluation framework proposed in this study and provide more specific examples in terms of implementation details,It also calculates part of the direct economic value,and the indirect economic impact of Beijing’s output,residents’ income,employment and GDP,so as to provide some reference value for the economic impact assessment and calculation of the Science and Technology Museum.It is also a reference for researchers to further carry out the economic impact assessment of China’s public cultural institutions.The innovative value of this study lies in the first construction of an evaluation framework suitable for the economic value evaluation of domestic Science and Technology Museums.Taking a Science and Technology Museum in Beijing as an example,it provides a more specific example in terms of implementation details,which has strong reference and practical significance.
