Agricultural land resources, which have absolute volume but the lack of per capita, presented shortage situation, especially in cultivated land. More seriously, with the economic and social development, the cultivated land continues to shrink and the pressure of protecting cultivated land is higher and higher. Through the tapping of existing potentials to improve the stock of agricultural land utilization and output rate, and improving the level of intensive utilization had become the objective requirements of social and economic development. Therefore, we should intensively manage land resources, with less agricultural land to produce more agricultural products to effectively alleviate the food security and environmental safely issues caused by resources. On the basis of defining meaning of agricultural land intensive utilization and PSR model, the evaluation index system for level of agricultural land intensive utilization being constructed, the paper had a comprehensive evaluation of agricultural land intensive utilization in Sichuan Province, and analyzed the spatial and temporal differences.(1) The level of agricultural land intensive utilization had fluctuating upward trend from 1978 to 2009 in Sichuan Province, and the less volatile. The pressure index is the increase in volatility, and the overall condition index is increasing year by year, the response index fluctuated growth trends, volatility small. The state index was in a larger contribution to intensity level, while the pressure index was in small contribution.(2)Agricultural land intensive utilization of five cities has been markedly improved from 2000 to 2009, while the city of Panzhihua was significantly lower. Some cities, which had relatively high level of intensive utilization, were located in the Chengdu Plain, such as Chengdu and Deyang, while the level of intensive utilization in Western Sichuan plateau was relatively low.(3) Qualitative analysis showed that the impact factors of agricultural land intensive utilization included natural factors, economic factors, demographic factors and policy factors. The results of factor analysis showed that the main socioeconomic influencing forces of agricultural land intensive utilization were effective irrigation area, agricultural prices, agricultural output, per capita arable land area, education level of farmers and agricultural disaster area. The impact of the above-mentioned factors were obtained through the gray correlation analysis, order as follow from big to small:agricultural output, agricultural prices, effective irrigation area, education level of farmers, agricultural disaster area and per capita arable land area.(4) Agricultural land intensive utilization were effectively promoted by construction of agricultural price support system and improving the prices of agricultural products, changing in agricultural development and increase agricultural output, strengthening education and training and improving the quality of farmers, improving land use planning system and strengthen the planning enforcement, carrying out comprehensive treatment of land and strengthening infrastructure construction.
