The Folk Investigations For The "Guangxi Wenchang" In Guilin

"Guangxi Wenchang", referred to quite simple as "Wenchang", which can also be called "Wenwanzi", "Wenchang", "Zaqu", "Xiaoqu" "Yangqinxiaodiao", "Yinggexiaodiao", is a kind of folk-art-form of cantata combined out-of-area arts and local arts. It is popular among many cities and counties in the north, center, northwest, northeast of Gulin, Guangxi Zhuang Minority Antonomous Region, especially in Gulin, Liuzhou, Luzhai, Yishan, Hechi, Rongan, where it achieved great popularity in the publ ic. Particularly, as the cradle and major prospering and spreading area, Gulin gave birth to the most orthodox cultural essence of Wenchang and then reserved it.As the object of the study in this thesis, "Guangxi Wenchang" of Gui lin has been set in the three dimensional time-space coordinates system in the perspective of folklore, combing the research methods of field study and literature analysis. This thesis also discusses its origin, historical survival situations, current situation, art value and the possibilities of future development in order to directly reveal its whole image, uncover the folk cultural value of Wenchang and discuss related issues of its inheritance and development. Except for the abstract and conclusion, this thesis consists of following four parts:The first part mainly discusses the origin of the name of "Guanxi Wenchang" and other related issues about origins, through which this paper reveals the huge historical and cultural meaning within the name of "Guangxi Wenchang". By means of the analysis on different opinions about origins of "Guangxi Wenchang", this part supports the opinion that Wenchang originated from the areas of Jiangsu and Zhangjiang more than 200 years ago.The second part discusses the historical developments of "Guangxi Wenchang" and its survival situations in different periods. The objective of this part is to explain the situations of Wenchang in these five periods: beginning, thriving, stasis, recovering, rescuing from its decadence.The third part discusses the inner organization and performance of the folk amateur folk-art-form group in Guilin, aiming to present the reality about the current situation of "Guangxi Wenchang"The fourth part respectively discusses the values of "Guangxi Wenchang" of Guilin n following aspects:art value, educational value, aesthetics and entertainment value and tourism promotion value, which reveal its rich cultural connotation and combines the previous parts to uncover the necessity of the Wenchang's inheritance. Then further analysis on various kinds of survival issues of this traditional Fork-art-Form and discussions on corresponding countermeasures have been presented in this part.
