Development of power industry is the base for sustainable development of the national economy. With the deepening of power system reform, how to enhance the market competitiveness of power plants, to reap maximum economic profit for the enterprise has become a crucial issue that each power company must carefully think about and solve. The power plant equipment maintenance is the daily work of an essential link in the scientific maintenance decision making, reducing indirect economic benefits of the maintenance cost is an effective way. After the power generation seperate from Grid, power generation enterprises have become self-financing independent economy. Currently, the cost of power generation enterprises mainly produces in the "two high & two major problems": First, high running costs; second, high cost of spare parts store; third, largest fuel costs; Fourth, large-scale maintenance repairs. DuPont studies suggest that well-known enterprises to achieve cost efficiency, operation and maintenance management must be strengthened. More and more companies recognize that the power generation equipment in ensuring the reliability and safety equipment maintenance costs under the premise of compression is the key to reducing business costs, generating a cyclical business equipment overhaul, involving more than professional, long duration, consumption of capital More power generation production and management is an important component. Overhaul management by traditional methods has been unable to meet the development needs of power plants, so in order to reduce the maintenance costs of power generation, the power companies have the urgent need of scientific and rational management of maintenance cost.This paper studies from the overhaul project of Huadian Qingdao #1 thermal power generation unit, therefore detailed overhaul plans and effective measures for security ,progress and quality assurance are developed based on the realities of the actual situation in power plant. Meanwhile, a simple and practical quality assessment system is established in order to more accurately evaluate the Maintenance quality. Hot-test evaluations after overhaul indicates that the overhauled unit has reached the superior quality goals, and the overhaul period, materials, costs and project management have also reached superior objectives.
