Study Of Yimeng's Funeral Culture

This thesis chooses the funeral culture of Shandong Yimeng area as its study object. In hopes of fufilling Yimeng funeral culture in the field of folklore research, obtaining academic as well as practical significance of the funeral culture, guiding the establishment of new funeral culture that is accommodated with modern society, this thesis makes a systematical expatiation and analysis on the ritual process, functions and contemporary changes of Yimeng's funeral culture from the perspective of folkloristics and antropology. This article mainly discusses Yimeng funeral culture from the following five aspects.First of all, regarding the funeral culture environment in Yimeng region, this paper mainly introduces the geographical and historical environment of Yimeng region, the culture connotation and characteristics of yimeng culture, and the basic situation of Yimeng funeral culture. Secondly, it makes a detailed description of the trival and strict Yimeng funeral ritual process, which mainly divides into five ritual ceremonies, that is pre-funeral ceremony, ChuSang ceremony, ZhiSang ceremony, FaSang ceremony, after-burial ceremony. We can find yimeng burial custom is a kind of complicated traditional cuture merged with ceremonies, customs and beliefs. Its ritual process carries folklore culture and shows the unnecessary and overelaborating formalities. Thirdly, this paper explores several local characteristics of Yimeng funeral custom, stresses the regional characteristics of paper-binding, clothing, language and organizers. We can feel the regional Yimeng funeral custom and our nation's cutural diversity. Fourthly, this paper discusses the functions of Yimeng funeral culture in order to show that the funeral culture plays an important role in the relationship between people and the society. The functions include mainly five aspects: transmissing moral consciousness, maintaining social and family relations, consolidating human relations, comforting spirits and inheriting folklore cultural. Lastly, it expounds the modernization of Yimeng funeral culture from the perspective of the necessity and countermeasures of Yimeng funeral reform.The article has six parts, including an introduction, four chapters and a conclusion, which has a total of around 50 000 words.
