With the development of wireless communication technology, especiallythe wide adoption of3G wireless network, present smart phone,evolved fromvoice oriented single function phone, can additionally provide the service ofimage, data and networking, and other comprehensive applications. Androidplatform has become the research focus in the field of smart phones. Based onthe current popular Android2.3operating system, this dissertation presents howto implement key functions, such as voice call, SMS and3G online service, inAndroid wireless communication subsystem.Radio Interface Layer (RIL) of Android platform is considered as anabstract layer between telephony service and radio hardware. From the point ofsoftware, RIL works under the PPP and TCP/IP protocol, in charge oftransmitting data reliably, delivering AT commands and parsing networkresponses. Besides networking, RIL also provides support to SMS and voice call.From this point, the performance of RIL will affect all wireless communicationrelated applications.When in research of Android RIL, this paper first gives the wirelesscommunication system architecture of android platform, and then, from theaspect of data flow and the reference relationship of objects, this dissertationputs emphasis on analyzing and studying several important Android RIL relatedmodules, e.g.: RILD, RIL-Java and GsmCallTracker, and elaborates the keytechnology realized in Android wireless communication system. In addition,wireless communication module, Vendor RIL, based on CDMA20001x/EvDoRev. A has also been migrated to Android platform. Together with module ATmanual and the related communication protocols, voice call, SMS and3G onlineservices are implemented.In final, test and verify android operating system's3G relatedfunctions.Next step, wireless communication modules such as TD-SCDMA andWCDMA which functions migration on android platform will be considered. Besides, the general implementation scheme about how to design Android RILfor current popular dual modes double standby smart phones is put forward.
