The major discussion in the article includes:how to measure and strengthen the communication power.Communication Power, is short for Medium Communication Power, according to Contemporary journalism principle of Professor Liu Jianming, Tsinghua University. The concept means the power of the medium and its capacity of collecting information, report news and posing impact on society, including medium's scale and quality, communication's quantity, velocity, coverage and influence effect. Therein influence effect is the determining factor. The theoretical starting point of this article is from this explanation about communication power.The development of news program in Satellite TV channel of Ethnic autonomous regions is not showing optimism at present, due to the restrictions of location, economic and culture. Its market shares are being squeezed by CCTV and advanced Satellite TV channel of different provinces, as well as being challenged by Terrestrial television channel in the area. The part of this article will analyse the eco-environment to Satellite TV channel of Ethnic autonomous regions in minorities'territory, and also the strategies taken by Satellite TV channel in face of intense competition. Not only does this part provide the background for analysis on communication power, but also facilitate us in search for where the problem is.Given the insufficiency of direct research on Satellite TV channel news programs'communication power in academia, the article starts with Professor Liu's explanation, and then takes Guangxi Satellite TV channel as a case. Through the review on its news program's performance during the coverage of significant events, this paper evaluates its communication。 power and is expected to find out the barrier to its development. On the basis of this work, the research is supposed to offer some advices about development strategy to Satellite TV channel news program, in order to support the strengthening of their communication power.The article consists of five sections. Section I discuss on the definition of communication power, impact, attention and relation among them. Based on this section, Section II depicts the general background of research, i.e. eco-environment of public medium communication and situation of Satellite TV channel news program development. In section III, an introduction to new program positioning is provided, as well as required communication power for Satellite TV channel news program in minorities' territory at current stage. The crucial content lies in Section IV, the problems in news program coverage from Guangxi Satellite TV channel will be summarised, through the quantity examination on the cases of China-ASEAN Expo and Heshan ore difficult.The highlights of this article are its consistent dependence on communication power theory, the involvement of authority investigation data, and the detailed analysis on Guangxi Satellite TV channel new reports.
