The microwave and the fiber transmission mode aren't be satisfied with the needs of TV industry. The digital satellite broadcast may be used wit the emergence of the digital and the video compression technological which MPEG-2 presents, especially the standard of European Satellite Digital Video Broadcasting that has been formulated. With the use of the high-power broadcast satellite transponder, the low-power satellite transmission system could be used. The satellite transmission mode which are used the broadcast satellite to transmit the TV program has its special merits which the microwave and the fiber transmission don't have. All of these merits could remedy the defects of the two kinds of ways. Hence, the broadcast transmission could be put into use gradually.The installation with which we could realize the satellite transmission is the satellite earth station. But the fixed satellite earth isn't satisfied with the requirement of the TV transmission. Because the DSNG (digital satellite news gather) system which has most of the functions of the satellite earth station is very flexible. So it could be satisfied with the requirement of the TV transmission. The DSNG system is designed according to the standard of the European satellite digital video broadcast. It could realize so many functions, including the source coding and the channel coding. We usually use the vehicle to realize its motivation. The equipments of the DSNG system including the MPEG-2 source encoder, the channel encoder , QPSK and upconverter, high-frequency power amplifier the satellite aerial, the equipment which afford the electricity and other auxiliary parts. This article introduces the design ways, the function of the equipment and the structure of the DSNG system used in vehicle. In this article, it first introduced three transmission ways of the TV program that have been used recently. We also analyze the merits and shortcomings of each. And then, we make a conclusion that the satellite transmission way is the main way of the television program transmission in the future. In the mean while, we also analyze the way of the MPEG-2 digital video compression and the DVB-S channel code standard. We finish the collection work of all equipments of DSNG system and realize the connection of every parts. At last, we talk about some experiences in the course of using the digital satellite news collection system.
