Non-photorealistic rending (Non - Photorealistic Rendering, NPR) relative to computer graphics of reality is an important branch of the computer graphics. In recent years it has gradually got the attention of people and become a key point of computer graphics studies. The findings have been used in films, computer animation, the game of large-scale application, and good results were obtained.Non-photorealistic rendering doesn't emphasize the graphic sense of reality, allowing ignoring some of these details to represent graphic artistic style.At present there are various kinds of artistic style of painting successfully simulated on computer. For example, the largest, watercolor GangBiHua etc. Chinese ink is regarded as traditional culture essence, more and more researchers noticed its economic, cultural value, and started to simulate rendering pen-and-ink drawings on the computer. Basic ink has only black and white , with ink as raw materials, add in water and draw the different shade (black, white, ash) level, which is called "MoYun". Computer simulation for ink and wash drawing is not only the spread of traditional culture, but also make great contribution to the development of non-photorealistic rendering technology. From the beginning of the texture of stroke, to painting tools modeling, simulation with computer drawing effect is getting better and better. But these methods are mostly interactive, requiring users to have certain art foundation, or the transformation the surface of the 3D model .These methods has great limitations in application.In this paper,we presents a method that automatically converting a color image to a image with the basic features of.This method based on outline of the picture and does not need to set a model. Canny edge detection applied to extract contours, the contour points on the boundary position in the image stored in the array, the array elements according to the contour boundary point is, the transverse and longitudinal coordinates to draw the ink effect. The diffusion effect was judged by the boundary ink chain code determined around Freeman pixel position corresponding numerical,and selected the appropriate template draw and finally formed a picture with ink characteristics of image.
