In recent years the Internet is more and more widely used in every aspect of people'slives, especially the rise of SNS(Social Networking Services), microblog and other newInternet applications,the popularity of concept of cloud and related applications, mobileInternet and mobile applications,it Greatly affects the people's lifestyles; Network traffic isalsoin a new peak with a new round of challenges and opportunities.Network performance measurement is an important means for people to assess thenetwork, real-time accurate performance measurement service providers to useful way toretain users, and also is an urgent need to maintain competitive advantages; In general,conventional models to measure network performance are classified into two types: activeand passive measurements. There are more researchs in active measurements,but less inpassive measurements, especially in high-level protocols. The reaserch of this article ismainly in passive test, using tools to capture network packets, and analyzing the HTTPprotocol performance. Passive test can reflect the really web experience of user, real-timemonitoring of traffic information and load conditions, as well as all kinds of unexpectedfailure, can be well used in network optimization,and provides data to support upgrades ofequipment and expansion of data.This paper mainly studies the HTTP protocol performance and raises an algorithm tocalculate the response time based on the referer field.Then Design a performancemeasurement system based on this method, including response time, traffic and web accessfailures.It can be widely used with high value.
