As the theory of Geographical Information System (GIS) getting mature and the computer technology getting developed, GIS has played an increasingly important role in the oil area. Each of the major oilfield companies designs and develops their own oilfield GIS system according to their own actual demands. Taking the advantages of GIS in spatial data analysis and graphical display, these GIS systems establish the production management mode which is GIS-based, taking all kinds of oilfield surface features as the entity object to perform and visual. They put the production data, business information and geographic information together, implement the visualization in production management, decision analysis, etc. and vastly improve the efficiency of oilfield production management. However the oilfield GIS systems encounter a series of problems in practical application popularization of oilfield, such as the low speed of system maps'loading and rendering, the low efficiency of business processes and so on. These problems not only block the popularization of GIS in oilfield application, but also reduce the effect of GIS in oilfield application.In this thesis, through the study of the technologies of the WebGIS and the ArcGIS platform, combining with the problems encountered in the oilfield practical applications of the oilfield GIS system, I suggest an architecture model of the oilfield WebGIS system based on the ArcGIS platform, employing the theory and technology of object-oriented, SOA, metadata and map cache. Design and implement an integrated model in GIS application of oil field using the meta-model-driven technology. Employing the technology of Web ADF, build an oilfield WebGIS system based on the ArcGIS platform. Study the map cache technology to design and implement the double-caching mechanism of the oilfield WebGIS system, which improves the loading and rendering speed of the system maps. Study the methods and approaches of implementing thematic maps, which is based on ArcGIS, and combined with model customization technology, design and implement customized thematic maps dynamically. At the same time, integrate several current information systems of oilfield into oilfield WebGIS system; use the GIS to connect the entire information platform related in the oilfield production management, which implements the sharing of information. All these technologies and solutions not only effectively improve the performance of the oilfield WebGIS system, but also increase the practicality of the oilfield WebGIS system. Also they vastly improve the oilfield geographical information data sharing degree and play a very important supporting role in oilfield production management decisions.
