The Furniture Industry Decision Support System Research Based On OLAP

Along with the development of the enterprise informatization, most enterprises have realized that information technology can greatly improve enterprise management efficiency and no matter large or small and medium-sized enterprises, most have constructed and applied the information management system of their own more or less. Through the use of information management system, enterprises have accumulated the massive operation data in which important business information hides. Traditional database and its application cannot effectively support the multi-dimensions and multiple-levels of data analysis and presentation enterprise policymakers urgently need. Data warehouse and OLAP (on-line analytical processing) system based on it can effectively integrate the data needed for analysis, organize the data in multi-dimensional model, carry out multi-angle and multi-level analysis, and proceed to find the trend whereby it can effectively help decision makers to make judgment and decision so as to enhance enterprise' comprehensive competitiveness.The thesis has firstly introduced and compared the various existing business decision support system; introduced the open-source decision support system components; analyzed the advantages of open-source decision support system compared to commercial decision support system; introduced the related concepts of data warehouse and OLAP technology established on it. Secondly, on the basis of detailed analysis of the enterprise sales management and requirements in respect of production management and in combination with enterprise' actual and original management system, the thesis has chosen the open-source software Infobright+MySQL to establish data warehouse, meanwhile using open source software Mondrian as OLAP server engine, chosen open-source OLAP front-end tools JPivot as basis tool of front-end show. These measures ensured the entire decision support system on the basis of open source and reduced the cost of users' ownership. Finally, the researcher has further made the design of the underlying architecture of the data warehouse and obtained the OLAP functionality of decision support system. This system can provide multidimensional data-cube query analysis and present multi-dimensional data reports and charts by the visual interface as well.
