Design And Implementation Of News Management System For Traffic Safety Research Center

During the author's intern at Software Development Department of Research Institute of Highway of the Ministry of Communications, the author joined a project named News Management System for Traffic Safety Research Center. Before this project, six branches of the Department of Traffic Engineering have their own news management systems. However, with the expansion of the business, the old system is becoming hard to be maintained and can't meet new demands, such as information sharing among those branches. Therefore, the Department decides to develop a unified news system to satisfy the branches'demands and to provide a platform to share their data and research achievements. The aim of this system is to provide convenient interface for efficient management of related information, such as the data of users, news, devices, standards, detection reports etc. It should also support the data sharing among different branches.The system contains eight modules. The author finished the modules of website, column, news, device, committee and detected reports, participated with the modules of user and sharing data. The author's work in that project could be summarized as follows:(1) The author finished the requirement analysis of this system. Not only collected all the necessary requirements by talking with the related users, but also proposed well-organized documents for later development stages.(2) The author constructed the necessary functional models for the system, and the whole framework and modules of the system.1) Use ASP.NET as the development platform, it can develop the medium and small Web system fast.2) Use ORACLE as database, it has strong functions, safety and reliable.3) For better user experience, the author combines a large number of AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) scripts into the system.(3) Made the process design, class design and database design of these modules and implemented these functions. In news management, through regular expressions' text matching technology, the author developed a function to extract the picture in news content in a rapid method. By the transaction technology, the problem of inserting CLOB data with large text into oracle database was solved with oracle client. (4) Designed the test cases and tested the modules of the system. Finished to design and implement the news management system.This system has been used in the company. According to the feedbacks from the users, this system could not only reduce the maintenance cost, improve the efficiency, but also provide the staff with a learning platform.
