Design And Implementation Of Network Information Management System Based On Oracle Forms And Reports

Forms and Reports, are two mature rapid application development platforms provided by Oracle. With these platforms developers can develop stable, efficient, secure and easy-to-maintain in a rapid manner. As container of Oracle Forms and Reports application servers, Weblogic server can seamlessly connect with Oracle database and fully support networks. Both of them are products of Oracle, they can shorten the development cycle strengthen compatibility and reduce cost. So it has more advantages in developing Internet applications with the combination of products than other development platforms.This paper mainly presents how to develop and deploy a project management system of a Macau company with Oracle Forms and Reports. This system is a Network Information Management System(NIMS) used to manage company’s construction projects. It has to be upgraded from C/S mode to B/S mode according to the requirements. The upgraded version is more efficient, structure optimized and more user-friendly. This system, assisted by Java, adopts PL/SQL as its principal developing language. This paper shall provide the background of the project and related technology in the first part. Then, the second part focuses on the design of the system, including the designs of system’s architecture, Forms and Reports and the database.After that, the implementation of the system is to be introduced in detail. Finally, difficult problems appeared in the implementation shall be presented and corresponding resolutions to these problems are to be provided in the last part.
