Attendance-checking, whose efficiency and accuracy directly influences the staff's productivity and the economy of the enterprises, is relatively an important task. There are several ways of attendance-checking, such as name-signing and card-punching, etc. These traditional ways of attendance-checking are all with the problems as heavy work, complex statistics or cheating in signing or punching as someone helps the others to sign their names or punch their cards. Now, more and more people focus on biometric technology as it develops quickly, and they especially focus on fingerprint identification technology, which is the most developed one among all. Because of its high accuracy and convenience, the fingerprint identification has been applied to most of the attendance-checking tools, such as fingerprint attendance machine and fingerprint attendance system. Compared with the traditional attendance checking, there are advantages of fingerprint identification technology application as less cheating, less investment, but more convenience and more environmental protection, which improves the efficiency. The article is about the design and implementation of a high school attendance system based on fingerprint identification.During the period of requirements analysis and system designing, I choose StarUML, a standard UML description tool, to describe it, which may lay a solid foundation for further development. What's more, it can also unify the standard and reduce the cost of system development, so that the quality of the software can be guaranteed.There are three parts in the system, including system management, attendance management and daily attendance check. System management provides the entrance for the administrator to operate the system, to manage the users'information, to backup and to recover the data, etc. The part of attendance management is for attendance administrators to manage the attendance information, including staff management, attendance management, absence management, history inquiry, system broadcast and help. The daily attendance management subsystem is the foreground of fingerprint attendance. Once one's fingerprint information is registered, the system starts to work. The system, according to the specificity of schools'schedule, is fully planned and comprehensively designed. With the most popular designing idea, the system is based on module structure. In detail, the system is constructed on the framework of J2EE, which is regarded as one of the most excellent platform, providing the most efficient solution for enterprises. As the system's presentation layer technology is JSP, the frame Struts2+ Hibernate+ Spring is used in MVC layer, center layer and persistence layer. With such kind of combination, J2EE application is full of scalability and maintainability. The system changes the actual paper work to the electronics and making no delay in process, which is suitable for the whole work system of school management and makes the scientific management realized and the efficiency improved, thus to establish the good image of a school.
