In the aviation field, flight data recorder can accurately record the plane performance data as well as the behaviour data of the pilot etc, which plays an important role in the aircraft accident investigation and flying training of the new plane. As the flight data recorder is usually installed in the airframe, its universality, flexibility, scalability are relatively restricted.This paper introduces a design of a portable Ethernet-based airborne multiple information recorder system. Firstly, according to the project requirement and the technical index, the paper presents a general design scheme based on SOPC platform and Ethernet technology, which makes the whole system portable, flexible as well as scalable. Then it introduces the software and hardware design in detail. The hardware design includes FPGA and its peripheral circuit design, GPS information receive and its interface circuit design, selsyn signal acquisition drive circuit design, airborne bus drive circuit design, Ethernet drive circuit design, DC/DC power conversion circuit design, electro magnetic compatibility design and so on. The software design includes the build of the Nios II system, GPS second pulse measurement and evaluation design, selsyn data acquisition design, airborne bus switch and their data exchange design, Ethernet underlying driver design and its TCP/IP protocol porting and so on. Finally, this paper conducts an overall debugging and a functional test of the communication board and as a result the hardware and software design meet the system requirements.
