P2p Streaming Audio Playback System For Set-top Boxes

IPTV streaming media technology is one of the most popular application on the network in recent years.The traditional of streaming media systems are usually use client/server (C/ S) model to provide services,this model requires that each client need to separately connect with the server, and then the server transfer data to every client, resulting in large pressure on the server. So with the number of users increases, since the restriction of the server's bandwidth and Capacity become a bottleneck, it is difficult to fulfill the needs of users.But With the rapid development of P2P technology, streaming media services find an effective method to solve this problem is about to combine P2P with streaming media technology to fully use of idle nodes resources which both as a server also as a client in the network, greatly mitigate the servers'pressure, make the P2P streaming technology rapid mature on the applications of internet multimedia.Based on streaming media technology and P2P network in this thesis, utilized P2P open-source software—PeerCast, and combined with the characteristics and demands of the embedded set-top box system, build a small embedded P2P network, applied audio and video program of the integration of the embedded systems and P2P technology to play. The thesis has complete the structural design of the overall system, the design of set-top box interface, and the settings of system environment based on the project:PeerCast and 3560 set-top box; then through the simulator imitate the TV-interface, combining the operation of the broadcast of television program and P2P network, realize the broadcast of audio program,and form a small playback system of the P2P set-top box streaming media.Finally the thesis has improved disconnect&reconnect mechanism of the system to make the system more stable, and ensure that the system smoothly transfer data.
