IMS is an open system architecture based on SIP protocol. It has important means to enhance our ability to network multimedia service control, as well as core network to unified integration of key technologies for network evolution. IMS absorb and learn from the Internet, and inherently possess the open mode, integration of open identity. As the core technology of next generation network, IMS achieve a separation of control and carrier networks in its soft-switched networks. This thesis that is from the 3GPP agreement development course to the IMS production, has made the introduction to the IMS system principles. Evolved with China Mobile CM-IMS subsequently, it dissects professional ability and characteristic of IMS,and the advantage relative to traditional network In this thesis, the IMS network architecture describes the functionality and the key network elements. IMS network plan is separated into the core network deployment program, the user entry point discovery mechanism, ENUM DNS network and query program, all agents SBC deployment plan, the load bearing plan and fixed-network access to hosts. Last this thesis focuses on IMS business applications. IMS business applications is divided into Common Centrex, Multimedia Telephony and Multimedia Customized Ring Back Tone. Common Centrex mobile business in Anhui Mobile is an example to elaborate technical solutions. For Group units and individual customers IMS supply with a rich voice and video communication platform and a variety of applications based on broad band. IMS has realized the integration of mobile and fixed service and it can provide application-oriented information service according to Customer's individual requirements.
