Transmission network, as the Bearer network of business carrying network, occupies an important position in modern communication. With the development of communication technology and the requirement of many kinds of service, especially the increase of Broadband data service& The third generation mobile communication,how to build an advanced,steady,reliable transmission network is a very important task of the Communication carriers .This article makes a detailed description and analysis of the existing backbone transmission networks of ShandongUnicom, and develops a network design and optimization scheme.First of all, it introduces the important technology of the Optical fiber communication,e.g. Auto Switch Optical Network & Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing. Second, it describes the present status of backbone transmission networks & The needs of the business of ShandongUnicom, Linking theory with practice,of the ASON+DWDM system in Shandong,the realization of the existing transmission network in a detailed system design .The last, it uses application of fault simulation and other scientific analysis & experimental method, relative to traditional Synchronous Optical network advantages were verified and discussed ,and put forward the further optimization suggestion.
