Topology Discovery is the basis of Network Management whose functions are based on the Topology Discovery, such as fault detection, configuration. An efficient, complete, clear topological structure is important for the Network Management.The thesis systematically studies the current topology discovery algorithms, and analyzes the existing topology discovery and topology display system. Based on SNMPv2 and ARP protocol, the thesis optimizes the existing topology discovery algorithm, and improves the veracity and the efficiency of system. Based on Web 2.0 techniques such as Ajax and HTML 5, this thesis enhances the effect of topology visualization.The thesis firstly elaborates on the relative concepts and principles of network topological discovery firstly, introduces popular technology deployed in network topological discovery, and makes a systematic analysis of and comparison among the different trchnological means. Based on several aspects such as network load, speed, accuracy and their rangesof use. we drew a conclusion that the speed of network topological discovery based on SNMP is fastest and it has abroad application scope. On the basis of this, made a profound research on traditional network topological discovery methed, and pointed out the advantages and problems. Based on the existing problems, brong forward some measures to better the function. The coding arithmetic of the optimized algorithm is described in detail.Finally, the research has tested the efficiency of the optimized algorithm by experimental findings and testing data, proved the lower time complexity and the controlled range of network topological discovery, and enhanced effect of visualization.
