With the development of the high-speed railway and urban rail-transit in our country, new method must be brought forward to make train drivers be familiar with safe rules firmly. The function of old train simulator is comparatively simple and can not satisfy the need of the new condition. The purpose of this thesis is to implement how to simulate emergent accidents with virtual reality technologies in train simulator, for example nature phenomena, obstacles on the road and malfunction of train. The intention is to make drivers master the safe rules firmly, and keep nicer manipulative capability by actual driving experiences. This thesis introduces the theory of virtual reality and the latest development of train driving simulator. It is proved that the thesis is reasonable between technologies and operation. Software of MultiGen Creator is chose, because it is based geometry-based modeling and rendering scheme to create the models with the outstanding three-dimensional modeling. Virtual system is presented and realized on PC with C++ language, OpenGL and OpenGL Performer, which is a high-performance software package of real-time three-dimensional rendering. The purpose of the software is to reduce workload, working hours and enhance reliability of system.Firstly, the theory of particle system is introduced, and the rules of producing, attributes, movement, dying and rendering are studied. Logical codes are compiled, and some special effects, for example smoke, blast, fire, snow and rain, are realized. Secondly, the technologies of collision detection are studied, and build bounding box. In addition functions provided by Creator and Performer are used to solve detection problems. Thirdly, computer animation technologies are studies, and improve on current methods to implement some animations for example water wave and so on. the main contribution of this thesis is to enrich content of training and improve the third dimension in the train driving simulator.
