With the constant development of information technology, route expansibility, mobility and security problems in tradition network become more and more apparent. The study found that the original network design and the dual property of IP address are the main reasons for the above-mentioned problems. Identifier-locator Separation Mechanism which separated the dual property of network address becomes a hot topic.Identifier Separation and Mapping Network (ISMN) is a solution based on Identifier-locator Separation Mechanism. Its main idea is to introduce Access Identifier (AID) to indicate identity and Route Identifier (RID) to locator. The deepening studies of ISMN have shown that, the new network has much more authenticity and security than the traditional network, but it is still lack of technology research on network traffic monitoring. This paper designs and implements a traffic monitoring system for ISMN. The main work in this paper is as below:This paper first analyzes Identifier-locator Separation Mechanism and introduces ISMN. It goes deep into network traffic monitoring theories. Then according to the traffic monitoring requirements of ISMN, this paper parents a design scheme of traffic monitoring system for ISMN. The system is implemented as a third-party system that can provide statistics analysis services and user tracking services to enhance the new network's security. The system is divided into two parts as collection device and handling device to make this system more scalability and easy to implement. After design, this system is implemented with multi-threaded programming techniques. Modularization method is adopted too. Collection device is implemented to capture the distributed original traffic, extract traffic abstract information on the basis of summary template and send summary packets. Summary template can be modified depending on the traffic analysis needs. Receive and saving module of handling device is implemented to receive and resolve summary packets, and save summary information into the database. Analysis and tracking module of handle device is implemented to fulfill traffic analysis and user tracking, then displaying the results by using texts or charts. The test results have shown that the system achieve the desired design goals. It can meet the basic requirements of monitoring network traffic in ISMN. At the end of this paper, the prospect is given for the further study work.
